You were tattooed in a modern studio with sterilized instruments and pigments. If you follow these simple instructions, you will have a quick healing and attractive tattoo.
Gently remove the bandage after approximately 4-6 hours. If the bandage is sticking, use water to moisten it. Wash it with warm water and a mild antibacterial soap. Gently pat your tattoo dry with a clean paper towel. Allow your tattoo to air dry for 24 hours. Apply a super thin layer of POLY-SPORIN OINTMENT. Your tattoo may “weep” for the first few days, this is normal. Don’t’ be alarmed if there is ink in the weeping, this too is normal. Also DO NOT re-bandage your tattoo.
Wash and apply POLY-SPORIN OINTMENT to your tattoo twice daily for the first 3-5 days or until the weeping/scabbing stops. This is when you start to apply a non-scented (fragrance free) moisture such as Curel or Aveeno. Be sure to keep it as clean as possible. Always wash your hands before applying ointment or touching your tattoo. It is an open wound and can get infected without proper hygiene.
Absolutely NO sun for at least 3 weeks. Should you expose your tattoo to the sun be sure to apply sunscreen after it is healed with is approximately 14 days after the procedure to prevent damage.
No swimming or soaking in water, including baths for at least 3 weeks. Soaking in water harbors bacteria as well causing premature lifting of scab tissue, which will result in color loss. However, it is okay to shower with a fresh and healing tattoo. Don’t penetrate the area with too much water try to keep it out of direct water as much as possible.
